Overthinking often begins as a form of protection.

Your mind may replay, predict, compare, and analyze because it is trying to prevent pain, embarrassment, rejection, conflict, or regret.

The problem is that overthinking rarely creates the safety it promises. It can make the mind feel busy while the body still feels unresolved.

Sometimes the question underneath overthinking is not “What is the answer?” but “Can I feel safe without knowing everything yet?”

Learning to pause overthinking does not mean ignoring your life. It means recognizing when thinking has stopped helping and started looping.
